Mark D. Cannon, Attorney

For the past three years, Mark Cannon has been a partner with the law firm of Timpe Legal Services, LLC, where he is the lead attorney in the firm's probate, estate and business planning practice area. Mark received his Bachelor's degree in Business Analysis from Indiana University. After graduating from college, Mark worked for Northwestern Mutual Life as a Special Agent, where he first gained experience in insurance and estate planning.

After selling insurance for five years, Mark decided to pursue his dream of becoming a lawyer and graduated from the University of Louisville School of Law in 1994. Mark started his legal career at the Indiana Department of Revenue as an Inheritance Tax Attorney, where he audited inheritance tax returns for three years. Mark then moved on to RJ Pile, a local Public Accounting firm. While at RJ Pile, Mark was the driving force behind the newly created Estate and Gift Tax Specialty Group where he worked exclusively with high net worth clients to recommend and analyze estate, gift and income tax planning strategies.

Mark has been a speaker at numerous seminars, including "Probate Process from Start to Finish"; "Think Small: Minimizing Corporate Taxes"; "Advanced Issues in Estate Planning"; "Top 10 Practice Tips for Young Lawyers & General Practitioners -- Estate Planning and Administration"; "Advanced Issues in Probate for the Paralegal in Indiana"; and "RJ Pile Tax Update Seminars". Mark is a member of the Indiana State Bar Association, where he serves on the Business Law Council and is a member of the Probate, Trust and Real Property Section. Mark is also a member of the Indianapolis Bar Association (Estate Planning and Administration Section and Business Law Sections). He is a former member of the Estate Planning Council of Indianapolis, Inc.

Mark is also active in the community. He currently is involved in the Big Brothers program. Mark also attends Northview Christian Life Church in Carmel, Indiana, where he is active in the Finance Worship Ministry. Mark formerly served on the Board of Directors and as Treasurer for the Indianapolis Ambassadors, Inc. In addition to serving on the Board of the Indianapolis Ambassadors, Mark volunteered for many local charities, including the Wheeler Mission, Conner Prairie, the American Cancer Society, American Cabaret Theater, and IRT. He also served on the National Institute for Fitness and Sports Advisory Board and the Foxberry Trace Homeowners Association Board.

Mark is a former youth soccer coach and IHSAA and USSF licensed soccer referee. In his spare time, Mark enjoys playing keyboard in a local classic rock band, playing golf, reading and snow skiing.
